Denver’s Applewood Plumbing Joins a New Path with its Caring Community Giveaway

The July winner of the Applewood Plumbing Heating & Electric’s $1,000 Caring Community Giveaway brings hope to the Jefferson County community. The Action Center is the latest recipient of the award that Applewood offers to nonprofits each month.

“The Action Center is a symbol of hope for a community,” said John Ward, Applewood Plumbing Heating & Electric president. “We are proud to be a part of an organization that continues to provide a pathway that leads out of homelessness and poThe Action Centerverty.”

For 40 years the Action Center has provided homeless shelters, food pantries and courage for the community of Jefferson County. There are 1,200 homeless individuals in Jefferson County on any given night and 73 percent of the 1,200 homeless are with children. The organization’s foundation is set on intervention, prevention and connection to promote self-sufficiency to residents and the homeless. With 80 volunteers working each day, the organization now serves 28,000 individuals a year providing aid and development to the homeless and poverty stricken areas of the community.

“We are tremendously grateful to receive the Caring Community Giveaway Award. The donation will go towards our many programs and food pantries to continue our mission in the Jefferson community,” said Mag Strittmatter executive director.

The Action Center strives to go beyond basic human needs like a five-day supply of food, a bag of clothing or a night of shelter. The Center implements programs that offer clients information and education to improve their ability to gain and maintain self-sufficiency. They are working non-stop to provide an immediate response to basic human needs and continually develop and broaden the scope of its programs to meet an ever-growing population.

Over the past nine years, Applewood has donated more than $95,000 in giveaways to charities and nonprofits in the Denver area.
