Denver’s Applewood Plumbing Supports Friends of Paha

The July recipient of the Applewood Plumbing Heating & Electric’s $1,000 Caring Community Giveaway brings happiness, laughter and a spirit that is contagious to the Lakewood community. Friends of Paha is the latest winner of the award that Applewood offers to nonprofits each month.

“Friends of Paha represents a place of happiness and adventure to those with disabilities and allows them to be themselves,” said John Ward, Applewood Plumbing Heating & Electric president. “We’re always proud to be a part of these kinds of programs.”

Friends of Paha was founded by caring parents and community members to offer quality programming for children and young adults with all disability types including, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, fragile X, ADD, ADHD, spina bifida, seizure disorders, OCD, autism, and many other special needs. The Camp offers individuals a place to express themselves and have the opportunity to participate in numerous activities and field trips into the community.

“We are very grateful for this award which will help keep Camp Paha affordable for all children and go towards our Camp of Paha Campership Program,” Said Robin Vint, Friends of Paha president.

Friends of Paha started in 2002 as a fiscal sponsor and mentor to help financially support Camp Paha which originally began in the early 1980s. In 2003 FOP became its own nonprofit organization and has helped raise funds for the camp ever since. Camp Paha is a day camp for children and young adults with disabilities ages 6-25 throughout the Denver metro area. The organization strives to identify and obtain adequate resources that support Camp Paha’s purpose to provide education, recreation and therapeutic opportunities in a safe and fun environment.
