Applewood Plumbing Heating & Electric supports many Colorado hockey programs by partnering with the University of Denver’s Hockey Team, DU’s Junior Youth Sports programs and the Colorado Avalanche.
“For the past three years, Applewood has been involved with Colorado hockey teams helping players master the game of hockey and learn skills they can use on and off the ice,” said Josh Ward, owner of Applewood. “Our partnership with DU has really provided an opportunity to engage and support the community at a new level.”
On April 13, 2024, the DU Hockey Team won 2-0 against Boston College, being named the NCAA National College Hockey Champions, making them the most winning college hockey program of all-time with 10 wins.. As one of their sponsors, the DU Hockey Team’s assistant general manager, Brett Brown, took the trophy on tour to Applewood to show appreciation for their partnership and affiliation with their team. Employees had a chance to view the trophy and take photos with their colleagues.
“It was so exciting seeing DU’s trophy in the Applewood office, I’m so proud of this team and all the hard work they did to deserve this national title,” said Ward. “What an exciting achievement to help celebrate.”
Through this continued sponsorship, attendees of home games can spot the Applewood Ice Machine, dasherboard and puck shuffle throughout the season. Continuing to support all ages of hockey enthusiasts, Applewood is an active part of the community to ensure programs have the support they need. The DU Junior Youth Sports Program helps get kids on the ice for some fun. Growing more than 30% each season, Colorado’s youth hockey programs have helped expose about 3,000 kids, ages eight and older, to the popular sport of hockey. Other partnering youth programs and ice rinks in the front range area are in Littleton, Frederick, Westminster, Centennial and Erie.
Applewood is the largest family-owned plumbing, heating and electrical service company in Colorado. They actively support the community in several ways including support of youth sports programs, its quarterly Caring Community Giveaway and trade scholarships at Red Rocks Community College.
