Families get holiday boost from Applewood Caring Community Giveaway
The holiday season is looking a lot brighter for The Family Tree, as the most recent $5,000 Applewood Plumbing Heating & Electric Caring Community Giveaway recipient.
In addition to The Family Tree, There with Care and Denver Children’s Foundation were selected by Applewood employees. Community votes resulted in the award to The Family Tree. There with Care and Denver Children’s Foundation will also receive $500 each.
“Each of these organizations is doing wonderful work in our communities to improve the lives of others,” said Josh Ward, owner of Applewood Plumbing Heating & Electric. “That’s truly the spirit of the holiday season, to help others, and we’re proud to be a part of those efforts.”
The Family Tree’s “Holidays of Hope” program provides gift cards to their clients offering a means to shop and provide for their families with the same grace and dignity as those more fortunate. The experience can be transformative for a struggling family.
“It is really exciting when local businesses, like Applewood, support the community,” said Robert Ham, chief development officer at The Family Tree. “It makes such a difference to have this kind of support for the people who need it most.”
Ham noted that the $5,000 donation will be used to provide community services to address the interconnected issues of child abuse, homelessness and domestic violence. The organization has been providing safety, stability and healing for 50 years.
Critical services to prevent child abuse, domestic violence and homelessness are at the core of The Family Tree’s efforts to assist individuals in reaching safety, healing and stability. Community resources include crisis intervention, therapeutic treatment, residential services, education and employment support. The organization strives to provide clients with the tools and resources to empower positive change in their lives.
Applewood has been donating to small, local nonprofits for nearly 20 years, impacting children, adults and families with more than $350,000 donated through the Caring Community Giveaway program. Employees nominate three nonprofits from the Denver/Boulder area each quarter.
