Applewood Plumbing Heating & Electric awards the October $1,000 Caring Community Giveaway to The Consortium.
The Consortium is a nonprofit organization that partners with over 50 school districts in Colorado to improve children’s health in over 1300 schools. Their vision is that all students have the health services they need to be successful in school and life.
“We’re always honored to give to organizations like The Consortium who are helping the children in our community succeed in school,” said John Ward, president of Applewood Plumbing Heating & Electric.
The Consortium has helped Colorado school districts to provide over 250 million dollars’ worth of additional health services to their students. These health services include mental health/ behavioral health services, nursing services/screenings, medical supplies, and equipment. The Consortium provides support to school districts to navigate the Medicaid School Health Services (SHS) Program and ensure that school districts maximize the resources available.
The Consortium also offers tools to support school districts with documenting health-related special education services for proper claiming. Additionally, every day they advocate and support additional health services for all children because they believe healthy children do better in the classroom.
“The $1,000 from Applewood Plumbing Heating & Electric will help us continue to support the school districts in Colorado,” said Kim Erickson, Executive Director of The Consortium.
